Need advice for an Non Adult Music start up

My best friend happens to be the son of Bobby Vee (60's teen idol - Rubber Ball - Take Good Care of My Baby etc...)
We met in college in the mid 80's.
He played in our band, and when our band schedules conflicted he recommended his cousin who played lead guitar (who then went on to play with Molly and the Haymakers - and had a world tour) with us for 3 years until we got burned out.
I have known the entire family for decades - damn I'm getting old.

Anyway, Robby is going it alone, and wants to sell his C/D's online.
I have never even thought about Non Adult until he asked me to help him sell his C/D's.

Genre is "rockabilly" - Buddy Holly, Elvis, Gene Vincent type stuff. Though we all Love Las Vegas... and in tribute to that town :)
Here's a song of his from his latest C/D.

Of course we'll be using Name Recognition.. lol

I don't have control - nor did I create his website, but working on it -
Robby Vee

Any help in regards to what programs/software needed would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a clue even where to start with a project like this.

Dont know exactly what advice you are looking for, but if you want to sell them online check out Yahoo's service for small businesses. I was looking into doing something a few years ago selling a friend's product, and they seemed to have a good set up.

Doesn't paypal has an option where you can setup a free online "store"?

I'd say it's a pretty easy thing to setup. He needs a brand new web design. No offence; the one he has sucks. You then need to find a decent shopping cart (fonz is right, paypal do one for free, but I'd look into something more stable with more commerce options). Good song, as well, I like it! :)

Yeah, PayPal will let you set up an online store for this - OR - you could go to your bank & get a merchant account set up - I know mine (Citibank) has all the stuff for an online store availabe where you just send them to your checkout page on their site. I think mine is $25/month plus the % that the CC companies take (which is less than PayPal if I remember correctly)

Not sure how an artist gets included in its song lists but it is the number one place for buying music online now. www.apple.com/itunes/store/

You could also put up a place on MP3.com. Give some linkback relevancy and a bit more exposure. They were always good for pay per download not quite sure how they run the show nowadays though. The only Robby Vee listed there is not your boy!
