Odd Ball Thumb Sizes

Time for me to spout off like an idiot... |pcsucks|

Ok I have been searching new sites to submit my personal
gallerys to when I start coming across all these damn sites that
are requesting odd ball thumb sizes...

WTF is up with all this thumb size changes?

the industry averages are 88 x 88 , 90 x 120 i make up those thumbs as I believe everyone else does.

Now these new sites are going with 50 different size thumbs...

Well unless your going to give me a large amount of traffic to my page sorry that just isnt gonna happen... or make it to where i can ( if your script allows ) create my thumb right there. I know most have that option to allow the submitter to create a thumb after submitting....

So if your going to open a new tgp and you want to make your thumbs different than the industry standard well

TURN ON THE THUMB MAKER INSIDE YOUR SCRIPT......

Thats my 2 cents worth
anyone else pissed about this????
or am I just an old man being a dick

Keyser Soze 2004-06-10 10:44 AM

I make 3 different size 88x88, 90x120 and 100x150
I submit those and if a site require a different size I try using one of the above or simply make one thru the script.

I removed a lot of galleries from my list because some require 84x118 or 89x119 I just delete them most doesn´t send any traffic anyways.

3xTom 2004-06-10 11:04 AM

Thats exactally the point Keyser Soze |shake|

To many different sizes..... I dont have any problem creating a thumb thru a script but damn Its getting stupid....

Surfn 2004-06-10 04:02 PM

I think it's ridiculous to ask that galleries be made with a certain size thumb. Surfers (myself included) enjoy the variety in content and don't really care about thumb size.

DangerDave 2004-06-10 05:23 PM

No fucker tells me how to make galleries... don't bow to them.. Just submit somewhere else.

Greenguy 2004-06-10 05:28 PM

I think they are talking about those TGP's that thumbs instead of text links & the various sizes they require.

ardentgent 2004-06-10 05:40 PM

I agree. All these different size thumb requirements are a real pain in the ass. I make 88x88 and 90x120. If they have a script to make another size I will. Screw the rest.

Hey, what about those sites that call for a thumb but then reject the submission when you submit the wrong size, even though they did not specify what size they require.

Ramster 2004-06-10 06:16 PM

I agree, some guys are all over the map on sizes. If I can make it within your script then great. Otherwise it better be one of the standard sizes.

3xTom 2004-06-10 07:50 PM

Damn nice to hear Im not alone in thinking This way...

sando 2004-06-10 10:48 PM

humm what good tgp is not a 88*88 or 90*120 ?

i don't know i submit everywhere, but in my top 20 no thumbs tgp withtout 88*88 or 90*120. maysbe it's just my partner accounts...
but for sure it will help to have autocrop thumbs in a a submitter (chameleon submitter must add this please lol) we are all lazy, creating a good thumb is an art, creating 30 good thumbs... a waste of time LOL

Very true. If thumb sites want to go with a different size, at least keep the 1:1 or 3:4 ratio the same. I create the standard 90x120 plus 88x88, 70x70, and 100x100 thumbs. The latter 3 take no time at all as the part that takes time and effort is choosing the thumb, the part to crop and adjusting sharpness, brightness, contrast, etc.

It seems to me that anybody requiring a non-standard thumb-size is just shooting him/herself in the foot. If 98% of TGPs expect a certain size, the 2% that veer from the norm will just get dropped off submitters' lists.

sando 2004-06-11 08:13 PM

we need a tool

humm i don't agree with that, tgp owners need submitions, and if a tgp is going to be a revolution in this business with a 150*125 then... everybody is going to copy and it became a new standard. actually the problem is the amount of work, the comunauty really need a good tool to create good thumbs quality. i know some have custom tools to do that. we all need a software that help us in our daily job. i know i know i am the one that said it's a waste of time, but by that i mean a biggest amout of work. another thing if a tgp is going to make an alternative thumbs size it must be a very good thing to have real hard working webmasters. not the lazy bastards who submit the same crap everywhere. it's a good trick to have a simplified reviewing ;-). but i really want that kind of tool on the market.
a good tool must be like 10 windows with the different sizes you need on the left, the original picture on the right, all the filters you need to make a beautiful thumb and a special crop by thumb of course . we dream about it if a guy want to do that must be a hit in this business.

I agree with 3xlinks, and I'm really hoping at least some of the 'guilty' TGP owners read this thread.

Matter of fact, I think I'll send this thread url off to a few of the TGPs that annoy me the most.

They'll all be gone soon. I know I use AGPSQL and I can grab thumbs from the submits with the click of a button. Why make webmasters jump through needless hoops just because you are too cheap or stupid to do it with a script...|angry|

3xTom 2004-06-11 10:16 PM

Well I sure am glad i made this post guys.... Looks like I am not the only one who feels like this....

Thanks Mizz b Thats a great idea... Think I will do the same next time i submit I will keep this window open and email this to the tgp owners... |angry|

It's been almost a year since I've done TGP, but last time I checked, there was no shortage of submitters willing and ready to comply with the exisiting standards. Now, if a TGP could show that, say, 250x500 thumbs improved sales dramatically, yeah, everybody would jump on that bandwagon. But, as you said, it would become the standard - not an anomaly.

I think it's called Photoshop... ;)

emmanuelle 2004-06-12 08:59 AM

Drives me crazy too- I already cut 5 different sizes, and it's still not enough for a bunch of places I'd like to submit to.

terry 2004-06-12 09:36 AM

I agree with you Tom, and of course there are exceptions as everyone has pointed out. I myself make 8 different sizes. Sure it takes time to get the perfect thumb but its worth it in the end.. most of the time.

What I hate is having to make 2 versions of each thumb because some sites want the face only then others want the action... ARG!

I personally dont care what people sub to my sites as long as its a nice clear thumb.

Thats all I have to say.

Terry

Exactly! Only show the face. Don't show the face. Show only face and tits. Only show the action. Don't show the action. Only show the belly button.

I make good clear thumbs. I sharpen them and adjust the color, contrat, brightness and other things. If that's not enough then give me a good reason to make an additional size.

Ramster 2004-06-13 03:55 PM

I currently make 88 face, 88 face and tits (if it's a bigtits gallery), 90x120 face, 120 no face at all, 100x150 and a 100x130 if it's a pornstar gallery. It is a pain, but it really doesn't take too much time. Still a pain though. LOL

Chameleon just added a crop feature.
