Why do you AVS?

Hi Everybody....

I've been debating with somebody on this side of the world the main benefits of having AVS sites. Can you please let me know how you make your money from them? Is it from the initial sale to the AVS or is it from the targeted surfers that buy from within your protected areas? I'm not too concerned about premium AVS, it's just the basic service that interests me...

I'm really curious....

Thanks
Mandy

AVS traffic is the best traffic there is IMHO, even better than SE traffic, because you have filtered out the looky Lou's. You are dealing with a surfer that not only has a credit card, but is willing to use it to purchase online porn.

So, while the initial sale (and possible recurring if that type of membership) is nice, then fact that your members area traffic is all qualified makes it primo.

Thanks BadDog, I figured as much, would still like more options ;)

well, I make my AVS money mostly from selling the premium/platinum memberships but I also make sales from the few sponsor links I am allowed to have inside those site. The type of surfer that signs up for those sites is gold.

Are there any more AVS people around? :(

Mandy, a lot of people don't do AVS anymore because of Visa's ridiculous rules. There have been plenty of predictions that AVS is dead as a commercial model or soon will be.

It also seems to be evolving towards the larger platinum-type sites. Netverifier has now stopped accepting basic sites, as have a few other avs/aen's.

I make very good money from my premium avs sites, and I've really only ever made basic ones as "backup content" for the premiums. I'd like to do more but uncertainty about the future of AVS is holding me back.

I've heard the theory that avs surfers are proven customers because they've already got out the credit card once, but I haven't seen it myself.

Thanks Grandmascrotum

My theory was that the AVS members where easier to sell to, from within the protected area's. I guess it all depends on the individual...

I should say that most of my avs sites are for women, and they're a different kind of buyer. And the upsells I was doing were for sex toys and dating services

Whether the surfer buys an upsell may well depend on whether they think they got value for money in buying an avs membership for a year, and whether they're happy sifting through the regularly added basic sites. Because most avs's now have a huge selection of basic sites. Frustration may get them in the end.

AVS is a much tougher market then it used to be. Sites don't stay on the link list very long & the rules are much tighter for number of banners etc. What works best for me is greating a few top notch premium sites that I can drive traffic to, then linking to all of my smaller regular sites that push the upsells & fall off the LL quickly. Make your own hub, do some doorways with links to toplists etc.

The best/worst part of AVS is that they recur forever. I have a few hundred AVS members, but if I'd spent the most time promoting, say, Adult Check...those checks would've stopped a long time ago.

I'd love to just stick with AVS, but in these weird times, gotta diversify.
