Which Web Host for Free Site hosting?

Hey Peeps,

Looking for a decent web host pretty much strictly to host free sites.

Aside from wanting the host *nix based and .htaccess Support, it would be nice to have the proper PHP, Perl and MySQL Database support.

I wish NationalNet would list their plans with details on their site.

I e-mailed them for details.

The other two I'm really looking at are:

http://www.protgp.com/virtual.html

and...

http://www.cpcyberwurx.com/virtual.html

I'm looking at the really cheap plans right now. PROTGP is looking really nice to me right now especially getting the 1st month for $1.00 and the ease of buying 500MB space.

Any really negative feedback that members here can attribute to any of the above?

Thanks.

I'm with cyberwurx and I've got no complaints. Aside from the features and prices that you can see, I can tell you support is excellent (always a top priority, IMO). Also take a look at their dedicated servers. There are many cheaper hosts, obviously, but you never see cybewurx spamming boards and begging for your business (an INSTANT turnoff also IMO). :)

Thanks. :)

I've been with M3 Server for a number of years and am very happy with them. I have two boxes with them.

I just set up www.foxyangel.com with them on the DS-2 plan.

You get both analog stats and AWStats, plus a server resource chart page. A nice control panel where you can add and remove domains, MySQL databases, domains and stuff like that.

I can't say enough good things about these people.

M3 Server with my referral code. :D

Cleo, it's hard not to know who you use. ;)

Their prices with what they offer seems a bit out of line:

http://www.m3server.com/plans/shared.asp

Their cheapest plan gets ya just 100MB's.

I have had over 100 domains with both.... and ProTGP would be the one I would use again..

I wish there were more hosts like ProTGP :)

Yeah I'm all on dedicated boxes, not shared. To be honest I rarely use anything close to the amount of BW I get each month with my plans. Their deals on dedicated boxes are decent, kind of in the middle with prices as far as I've seen.

I am really very happy with them or I wouldn't saying good things about them.

Alphawolf 2004-06-23 05:56 PM

DD, that says a lot. Thanks, mate. :D

Cleo- yeah...dedicated is a different deal.

Really, all I wanted was extra space on my current host, but they are geared towards dedicated and co-location. So, their cheapest plan is $50/mo which is what my plan is. I've used 450MB out of my alloted 500MB. To get another 500MB I'd have to pay another $25/mo.

I figured I could do better and use other domains and get some other sites up on the cheap.

I've been using Protgp since I started just over a year ago, and I haven't had one problem at all with them, and they are very helpful with their live help box.

I'd recommend them as well.

Cool deal.

My nickname was mentioned with this thread in the allofthem newsletter today.

I'm glad this didn't become a spamfest.

BTW, cyberwurx may want to renew their domain:

http://www.whois.sc/cpcyberwurx.com

It would sorta suck for them to lose it.

Just wanted to state that I set up an account with PROTGP and found them to have their stuff together. |thumb

I'm sure cyberwurx is very good too, but the 500MB space for $5/mo and 20 IP's was a great deal I thought.

Maybe next account I need I'll go with cyberwurx to spread the risk of any down time and feel them out as well.
