Well, not Hijacked.

Anyone ever get back bounced mail from SPAM mail you never sent?

Meaning- someone used your e-mail addy as the From address.

I'm getting messages bounced for full mailbox from e-mails I clearly never sent. They are in German, not English.

I do not know German.

Out of the 4 that bonced, I'm sure 1000's didn't. And those folks think I sent them. :(

I have gotten some nice virus payloads wia e-mail from the domains they thought I spammed. :(

I get them all the time. The sender is spoofing your e-mail address. As far as I know there is nothing you can do about it. :(

Yupz, today I had to shut my main email domain down because it got 18000 spam and "email-return" messages a day :(

They should hunt down these fuckers and make them read every email they ever sent out. Or print them out and eat them |raygun|

I had this prob last year - some joker spammed American universities with spoofed e-mail addy.... bastards, every man jack of em... Grrrrrr!!

I get between 10-30 of those a day.

They even spam me with an email from one of my domains. lol

Yep, annoyingly very normal. I'm not sure what is worse, spoofing your email to others, or (laughable but not) when you get email from your OWN addys to yourself with other people's names attached. Sheesh!

They must comb through Adult sites because this has yet to happen to me on non-adult domains.

I actually get more bounced webmaster@greenguyandjim mail than I do spam.

Yea, these are a pain in the ass. I don't even d/l mail to my local machine...check it all...and delete 95% of it right on the server. Very little actually gets d/l to my local drives.

I do like the idea of making em read/eat every piece they've sent out though! |lightsabe

Yup just the lately it has gone from 1/4 of my emails to over half grrr, however I am concerned about making rules for them in case its an honest bounce and I miss it... for example a ll that has a hotmail account attached to their submit form that bounces, it took me a while to notice lol.

I agree, DD. I went through spam nightmare at one point. First, my Verizon account was autofiltering newsletters and ecommerce emails. And they don't let YOU decide. They are "being helpful" by having their own server ware decide FOR you. And it sucked, and nothing you could do.

So then I switched to an unfiltered email elsewhere. I got all my ecommerce and personal mails, but I also ended up getting 4,000 a day. So it ended up being a needle in a haystack. Yeah I got my important emails but now FINDING them was next to impossible!

The answer for me was turning off my domains default, killing every webmaster@ I had too, and finding Mail Washer. :)

At this point though, I'm seriously considering getting rid of all my dravyk@ addys. Would be a shame, but there's still 1,500 spams a day going to those, and while MW does help majorly, that crap is still very annoying.

They spider the web and pick up addresses that way. I kept getting emails from one of my domains from this address amin@domain.com and couldn't figure it out until I looked at the source code in the site and saw that it had an email addy in their misspelled where it should have been admin@domain.com.

Was real easy to see how they get their addresses after that|lightsabe

Every day, and mostly on my semi-mainstream site. I get an absurd amount of spam to that site and an equally absurd amount of "bounces".

When I get around to it I'm going to go to only form-based communication on that site and have my host reject all emails with an autoresponder. REALLY pisses me off, but what can ya do...
