First Attempt- Please critique
 

While I've been in the paysite biz since 99, this is my first attempt at a freesite (go figure)

I'd love it if people more experienced than I could take a look, and let me know if I'm on the right page, as well as the liklihood of it being listed.

Well the first thing I see is that the full size pics open in a new window and thats pretty much a no no and most link list :( Also you might want to add some linkable text with the banners :) Other than those two things not bad at all :)

Please tell me, should the pics open alone or on an html page?

Well some like them on html pages but allot of link lists are shying away from that beacuse lots of webmasters are adding lots of crap to the pages so your better off having them with out :)

really? Why would high quality pics earn a rejection? Isnt user satisfaction of high importance?
(outdoor pics are hard to compress though)

Quality is good emmanuelle, but downloadability is a big factor.. especially with sales...

A significant proportion of the web are still using dialup.

Additionally... bandwidth can be an issue for "you" when you get 1000 hits to a site with 140K pics the BW is significantly more than it would be for the same no. of hits to a site with 50K pics

Emmanuelle, I think it's a gorgeous site and I would list it in a heartbeat. (Hint, hint.)

I don't personally reject sites based on image size, but I kind of understand where DD is coming from. Of course I can't speak for him, but from my point of view, (1) large images are a waste of your bandwidth, and indicative of serious newbieness (I know this is not the case where you're concerned) and (2) More important - make 'em pay for high-quality images. Free sites should give a preview, not the full product.
