Hi I was wondering what are the slow months on the internet
and why, my traffic has dropped just wondering when it should pick up

I had a record setting June for sales, best June ever. July seems to be on the same pace. |bananna|

This is one of those threads where we all jump up, saying "I made 300K this month", "Summer slow down, huh, what's that?"

I'll refrain and say "You'll notice a rise in traffic once the kids get back to college (usually when people get off beachs, go back to work, and life resumes its normal pace)" :)

June sucked ass for me - revenue was down 40% from Jan & Feb - I can't wait til the college kids get back to school :)

To be honest I'm not seeing any slow down at all this year.

I've already broken all previous sales records since I've been in this biz and this month is not even half over so I'm happy as pig in shit right now. LOL

Yea - I would have to agree - no summer slowdown hitting here.

Traffic and sales are both up and like surfn june was a record month for us.

Last year july was the slowest for me . . . but thus far we are on par with last month.

Can't complain when the summer slowdown bandit doesn't knock on your door ;)

I am one that has never believed in the "summer slowdown"... Webmasters slowdown.. not surfers..

Not gonna say I made 300K (wish I could) but the month of June was our best month in a while (for new sales).

the last 2 weeks of June I had over 70 new transactions on one site :)

needless to say I was very happy :)


In my opinion most (but not all) webmasters also slow down for the summer, which could be why traffic is down and sales are down???

could be wrong, but like I said, My opinion.

My sales dropped in June by about 30%. This month is looking a bit better though :)

I didn't notice any summer slowdown last year, probably as it was my first year doing this as a full time webmaster.

Oddly enough, I know exactly what caused my problems (ARS) and I have been working on fixing things, but it's kinda hard to replace 100 free trial & 700 regular sites that were making money hand over fist :(

But July does look a bit better, so things are on the rise again for me :)

June was my best month ever
Last week was my best week ever.

That sounds like a nightmare. :( I'm still very fond of ARS (moreso now HSN is back to free trials) but I do miss the old ars.

I guess the good thing for me is a lot of my traffic is european : most of our kids don't go to college, there's never any sun, and everyone is credit card crazy. :)

I see these type of threads on lots of different boards and I find they are never accurate. No matter what holiday or what season it is, there are webmasters who always say they're having their best week ever, while others admit sales are slow.

I have either had access to, worked for or owned 5 different large programs. Each and every one of them showed a slowdown during the summer months. While some people did have an increase in sales, most saw a decrease.

If you only do tgps, or only do free sites and are not involved in the vast number of other areas in this biz then you will see a slow down.

I should add that one of the reasons that I'm having a really great month is having a tranny site literally end up on my front door step. Conversions to it are in the three digit numbers so far this month.

Sales to the rest of the stuff that I promote is about the same for me as the last few months with a few new programs that I added doing well and some of my older stuff down a bit.

It stands to reason. Like many businesses, this one can be quite seasonal. I know when I used to sell pvcu, I'd sell more conservatories in summer, less in winter. I'm now trying to rent out 2 terrace houses and even in my locality (a sellers / landlord's market) I can't shift them because people can't be bothered to shop around estate agents.

With regard our industry, we make money when someone, sitting at a computer, whips out a card and signs up to a porn site. Due to weather, tradition, kids and family being on vacation, there simply are less people sat at their computers. Less bums on seat = less tickets sold.

Of course, there are ways to adapt, but the facts are slow downs do exist. Might be cool to say you make 300K or whatever when others aren't doing so well, but its "usually" just an ego boost.

There are always different factors that may cause programs to do as well during the summer as the rest of the year. Many are resigned to just ride it out. The smart ones, do whatever they can to entice new webmasters. That's why you see more and more programs having contests, opening new sites and buying up advertising just before and during the summer months.

Programs that say, "no summer slowdown here" are either doing what I described above or simply lying.

I run a few link lists, a few TGP's, I make free sites & galleries every day, I still dabble in the AVS side of things, I have numerous hubs & bullshit sites that I'd never share with anyone on the board - LOL - and once in a while I get good SE terms. Things have been slow the last 3 summers for me :(

Its summer And It only stands to reason that traffic will be down..

IMHO With this kind of thread - we are comparing apples with oranges..

And like in anything that booms in winter, you build your stock in summer..

Just like if your only heat was wood - You would work in the summer to have a good supply of WOOD this winter.. "He Said WOOD" hehe..haha

Just curious as to what then are you doing that is not slowing down? That is, if you want to share.

Meanwhile, I'm seeing the same slowdown I've seen every summer.
