Good idea to design free sites to look similar to sponsor?

Does it make sense to design free sites (color scheme and fonts) to be fairly similar to the sponsor you are promoting?

I don't mean steal the sponsor design of course, just provide as many visual clues to make the transition from free site to sponsor page as seemless as possible so that the surfer feels comfortable.

Of course, one could go a shade lighter/darker and use different font sizes so it's not the same repetitive template.

It seems if a free site looks totally different in every way from the sponsor site that it would sorta make me think: "That's not what the sales picth made me expect at all."

Would 'sponsor themed' free sites tend to have better convertions?

Hi Alphawolf,

I always try to design my free sites to be similar in color etc to the sponsor site I'm promoting.

It makes sense, if the surfer likes your freesite but then clicks thru to your sponsor and the colors, layout, theme etc are totally different, it may not be to his/her taste. I like to try to keep everything flowing nicely :)

I thinks it definately does help conversions :D

Lisa.

I have done both, using same colors as sponsor site and doing totally different design. Both seems work.

Except my only twink site I designed looking just like sponsor's site. It has had thousands and thousands of hits to my sponsor but no signups.

Maybe I should leave gay sites...I have built 3 and no sinups...

Yea, same here......I try to focus more on getting the click and letting the sponsor tour do the sale. Well ofcourse theres nothing wrong with some pre warmup |rasta|

It's an easier way to build free site - go to sponsor site you promote and get design from there. At least bgcolor.

Thinking of unique idea for site is better, not will happen everyday.

Here's some I made:

http://www.swedishsmut.com/babes/01/

http://www.redlightscorner.com/gothic/01/

These has not sell well, but sometimes I got bored and I must cook something up.

OK. Thanks for the feedback. I guess it's about the pics and vids, not the design of the site so much...for the most part. :)

I forgot to post one site:

http://www.hottyporn.com/shagadelic/01/

Rachyl's photo set was named Shagadelic and I of course remembered Austin Powers. Design of this site is robbed from Austin Power DVD. BTW, that movie was shagadelic. Groovy, baby!

Well my first free site to each sponsor is allways with the same colour/design elements, but when I build more and more promotuing the same site I cant continue using the same colours as that could only get me blacklisted for templates...
