Information on Internext 2005/Mandalay Bay

I see the other thread about the change, but I didn't want this post to get lost. People are posting all over the place freaking out.

The rooms are still available, but going fast:

They are 169.00 plus tax for the standard room which is 750 sq feet.

If you want to book a room, you have to call this number directly:
1 800 666 0696 and ask for Jeanie.

The reservations must be made via fax (they will email or fax you the form). Deposits must be made in early December for atleast ONE of the nights, so if you are going to cancel, it appears you have to do it 30 days in advance.

Hope this info helps.

"rooms are still available, but going fast"

That fucking cracks me up - how the hell can you book your room when you can't even get fares on flights to Vegas in January for another month or so |badidea|

BTW - my brain-hamster was spinning last night on all of this - more info when I have more details :D

Hey Greenguy,

Orbitz, you can book all the way up through 2008. I just did a quick search from Buffalo to Vegas and it came up with 282.00 flying United. :)

Greenguy 2004-07-26 04:18 PM

$282 is about $75-100 more than I've ever paid to fly to Vegas :)

Plus I'd bet that it's less than $282 if you go thru United in about 4 weeks :D

Flights from Lauderdale to Vegas seem to be quite costly.... You are lucky. I can get them cheaper out of Miami, but Parkland is over an hour away from that airport and I have never seen a worse airport for parking, security, etc. (Half of the staff doesn't even speak English.... Last time I was there I was trying to ask about a gate screw-up and the lady just kept pointing in random directions). |angry|

Miami, the other Caribbean island.

adamneve 2004-07-28 07:53 AM

let's get over Miami and be ready for Mandalay |waves|

RawAlex 2004-07-28 11:48 AM

Consider that Mandalay has about 4 times as many rooms as Miami, and I had not big problem getting booked into Miami in the last two weeks, well, "going fast" in Vegas is just one of those expressions. However, their own website has the balls to try to charge 499 a night for a room through that time period.

I suspect that the Luxor, NYNY, and MGM will be VERY popular this time around.

I stayed at the Luxor one time just after it opened...never again! |raygun|

I am thinking a lot about the MGM. Only because I thought that they would comp me quite a bit. I just got off the phone with them and I was right :) So, now I have to think if I want to pay the inflated prices at Mandalay Bay or stay for free in a nice room at the MGM. Damn, I won't even know if I am going until after Florida.

Greenguy 2004-07-28 12:49 PM

MGM will be good for you - there's a tram across the street at Excalibur that goes right to Mandalay Bay :)

If my master plan falls thru with Mandalay bay, I'll be over at the Tropicana doing the same thing you'd be doing - LOL

What made it such a bad experience?

At the time Dennis Roddman(sp?) was in the penthouse and I was one floor below in one of their better suites. Cheapest damn setup I ever encountered. I had assumed that it was going to be one of the better ones, my mistake, and one I will not likely repeat.

Keep us posted on any great deals you guys find.

Flights from Canada are very expensive unless you get a charter deal, so I won't be able to book for at least a month or so. Mandalay might be sold out by then if the rooms are truly "going fast".

Right after New Year's is always cheap in Vegas. I stayed at Treasure Island last year for something like $79 a night. Nice rooms there too!

SlickRick 2004-07-30 01:26 AM

Ive stayed in suites in Tahoe, Vegas, and Reno that were comps. I am a gambler and dont spend all that much time in a room, as long as it has a tv and a nice comfy bed they could put me next to the ice machine. I just dont see how some people can spend 350+ a night on a room. just my opinion though..

What part of Canada are you from? Before Ice moved down here I always found him some kick ass flight deals.
