Internext-Miami and accomodation

I will be landing on the 12th in Ft. Lauderdale's airport.
That much is certain (ignoring for the moment any unplanned accidents)...
However, what is still unknown is - where I will sleep that night and the following nights.
I prefer to stay at the Westin Diplomat. HOWEVER, it is sold out (how surprising ;))
What I heard last year though, is that many rooms were available despite everything. Probably many cancelations etc...
Is that true?
Can I just arrive there and hope for a room?
Or should I rent a car and do some driving every day?
Alternatively, anyone has a basic room he/she are not planning to use and want me to take over?

I stayed down the street last year. I can't remember the name of the hotel but it was only a 5-7 minute walk and about $100 a night.

Cleo might know the name.

Did the same. In holiday inn or something like it.
Didn't like to walk in the morning. I arrived with too much sweat on me |skull|
Miami is not easy that time of year |pissleft|
I rather stay in the westin diplomat.

I am just wondering if there will be rooms available the last minute, or not. OR if someone has a room to pass over to me.

Get the hotel to put you on the waiting list. Their cancellation time is 72 hours ahead, and a number of companies and groups overbook by a large number of rooms, then give back at the last minute what they don't need.

They told me there were sold out last week, I went wait list, and got confirmed 2 days later.

Call the hotel directly, don't call the reservation number. Call 954-602-8700... they might be able to sort it out.

Hey Ron,

RawAlex speaks the truth.

There's sure to be cancellations. Last year, Andre walked into the hotel without a reservation at all and was given a room.
