Question to LL owners about 2257
Assuming the way this all works out there will be some sites needing to get 2257 links added to them. WIll bannings and castrations be handed out if we go back to previously submitted pages and add 257 links to our pages? What if we have to all out delete sites over this? It would be hell to email every link list that "might" have listed me to get them to remov emy link before deleting.
Will a "grace" period be given on all of a sudden deleted sites and changed sites? A lot of sponsor content I have used will need to be deleted depending on on if I can grandfather things in or not because the sites pushed on them are no longer running. I will most likely have to edit every page to add the sponsor's 2257 records page along side of my copyright statements for pages I keep. |
I've been thinking along the same lines.
I personally won't be penalizing anybody who has to make changes, so the five webmasters who submit to me have nothing to worry about. ;) |
I doubt anyone is gonna care if you add a 2257 link to your pages, but if they go 404 or 302, that's another story.

Some of you guys run link checker scripts though that auto delete links thatc hange though right? What about if we have to put some links 404 as is the case with me regarding tonifreeland content as pibcash does not even own it legally anymore. |
If you're going to be pulling sites that are currently listed on link lists, then let them know before you pull them.
We pull 25-150 sites a day from the Link O'Rama for 404's, 302's, no dns, etc. In the case of 404's & 302's, we then go thru & look for other sites submitted by those webmasters & pull them as well. They also go on the blacklist. It would be very time consuming & not really cost effective to email all the webmasters & ask why the sites they asked us to list went 404 or 302 or if their host was back up or whatever. As far as editing sites & adding the 2257, my rule has always been that you can change a site that's already lsited all you like, as long as it still follows my rules. 2257 links are of course allowed, so adding one would not violate any rules :) |
you can change the pages, just dont ever change the content
I dont care if you have to 404 some pages as long as its the clean white 404 page. |
For unrelated reasons I sold the domain anyways. So no worries on my part. Thanks for the input.

Very few LLs would take offense to the addition of a link for 2257 - heck most dont care if you change banners if a sponsor happens to change their biz model - as long as you always follow the rules - and I dont believe anyone would count the 2257 link as one of the advert/outgoing links - as long ass it really is used for that :)

Pretty much what Greenguy and Linkster said. :)

Having the link is one thing - add it if it makes you feel better I don't mind. Having all of your records in order when the feds come to call is quite another.
