What's going on with the GG&J email contest?

Just wondering what's happening with the email contest. There's been no posts in the contest forum for a month, and I searched and couldn't find any announcements about it stopping or giving it a rest for the summer.

If you're not careful, I might not open my newsletters quite as excitedly as I normally do.
:(

Hope it comes back soon.

I wondered the same thing but just didn't post about it. :(

Fonz 2004-07-29 05:27 AM

I stopped looking for the code months ago and actually started reading the newsletters :)

email contest? What email contest? <---Spoken like a true newb|jester|

After trying to give the money away for so long, and the last big winner not even replying back to me after he claimed his money, I have put it on Hiatus until the end of summer. It will come back...but after then end of summer.

Something about contests sometimes rubs me wrong. The big prize winner was not the first to do this. I once gave away over $33k in one shot and never heard a word from them. And again, gave away $100k and was lucky that I received 1 email thanking me.

It will be back...I promise. But, during this summer, I am retooling the entire process.

You mean that guy that never posted on this board before he won the $2500 didn't want his money???

Damn.. that's a mistake I would never make :D

adamneve 2004-07-29 07:55 AM

that's a good thing to hear,

if you would still want to giveaway the $33k i'll be happy to take it Jim ;)

Thanks Adam..I will remember that :)

And, no...he sent me his address and I sent out the check. He was happy to cash it but never posted or wrote to me again.

That is the problem with just using the newsletter database. We have many, many more people that receive the newsletter than are registered on the board.

Which brings me to a new point. If you are registered on the board, make sure you get on the newsletter list. The last time I moved the board list to the newsletter list, I had a few pissed off people. These people opted out of the newsletter and without knowing, I just put them right back on :) So, I will never do it again.

Ms Naughty 2004-07-29 09:22 AM

Thanks for the info Jim

If I ever win anything from you guys, there will be plenty of heartfelt thankyous. :)

Looking forward to seeing the new retooled version.

Jim 2004-07-29 09:35 AM

I have been thinking of the retooling for sometime now. See, we can't exclude people that only read the newsletter since the newsletter itself is so important. But, I am thinking of something a little weighted based on board participation, just being a board member and only reading the newsletter. I just about have it figured out but not quite.

Surfn 2004-07-29 09:42 AM

Maybe something like one week to the newsletter readers. The next a drawing on webcam from board posters from a hat. Back and forth.

I'm sure you can think of a better system, this is just off the top of my head |lightsabe

People who don't contribute to the community but maybe join your programs via your newsletter...

They're fine.

BUT THEY DON'T NEED TO BE WINNING ANY F'IN PRIZE MONEY OF OURS

|angry| |skull| |pissleft| |pissed| |raygun| |bullshit|

Not that I'm bitter about that. |flowers|

I say the prize is split 10% newsletter and 90% board member with 5+ posts.

Useless 2004-07-29 12:46 PM

If you'd like to send me a check for 100K, I'll gladly email you and thank you every day, post on the board, perhaps eliminate any neighbors which may be bothering you, whatever.
I'm a thankful type of guy.

Blue_Spade 2004-07-29 05:13 PM

Jim, not sure how weighted on the active board members you want it but I am sure you could find a way to cross check and only make the selection from board members with x amount of posts and are subscribed to the newsletter.

This would not fly on other boards but GG&J is moderated enough to keep the post whores down and could make it a viable way of giving back to the community

Give me $100k and I'll plaster my thanks all over every adult board and kiss your feet at the next convention. Heh.

I'm with Useless Warrior on this one...for $100K this Italian boy could make it so someone "sleeps with da fishes" for ya.......|shot

Ms Naughty 2004-07-29 11:22 PM

Monkey Spanker 2004-07-30 01:33 AM

Nah, you are all safe as long as there ain't money in it|shake|

Don't get on Jim's bad side or he might be giving me a call though.

If you have recently pissed him off and you see a fat bald Italian guy heading your way with a violin case then maybe you should start getting nervous.|jester|
