Positioning once you're listed?
I was wondering about something.
I build the occasional free site in my spare time, and although Link-o-rama (for example) generally lists me, I don't get near the amount of traffic from them that I used to. I got to wondering how many paid spots or personal spots are listed from the top down on a daily basis before the normal free listings are listed? I build very clean sites too. One sponsor per site, big clear pictures, and very well laid out. As an example: http://www.livesexforfree.com/peternorthcum/ Presently I get my best results from Penisbot and Wet Place, who both give me tier values of 6 or 7. (for picture based free sites). Thoughts? |
Everything on my site is rotated by a different letter each day.
|
My sites are rotated alphabetically too - which is no surprise as I modelled my site on Greenguy's :)
|
Paysites first and then free sites. All are resorted more then once per hour.
Nothing sends traffic like in the old days since there is so many more lists, also micro niches in the lists, but on a whole I have more traffic then ever, just comes from a lot more places. |

Are you are asking the same question again?
Most of the paysites has my affiliate code since that is the only way I'll list them and my free sites and sponsor free sites are just mixed in with everything else. |
Easy Cleo.... note our replies are a minute apart and I'm sure I sat here with the reply window open longer than a minute.
I am asking though, generally, how many personal or paid spots do the list owners use for their own ends before they start listing free submits (alphabetical or otherwise). |
well I think that mostly depends on the category
I think i take the top 25 in hardcore but only the top 4 links in blacks, top 10 in amateurs |
I don't sell any spots & all my personal links go in just like everyone elses.
I agree with what Cleo siad - traffic ain't what it used to be & if you pick a popular niche, your site might get lost in a sea of other sites :( |
My own stuff is "in the mix" alphabetically. 95% of the members sites go with my sponsor codes, there are a few select sites in there that don't, but I haven't added a new one like that in longer than I can remember.
It is the "margin" for that business. Alex |
All of my sites are also mixed randomly with other free sites. My links are sorted in random order daily. I don't have a ton of traffic right now, but almost all of it is SE, and it is growing constantly.

No offense taken at all - even if you are a Canadian :D

Chris - for the first week we mix you in on the "new" page with hosted free sites and "friends" sites (I am my own best friend LOL) - and there are no paid spots - although many of the LL owners have considered it to some degree in the last 2-3 years :)
The day that you are listed, you would be towards the top of the listings for the new page - then work our way down the page as new sites are added At the same time, the category pages are rotated alphabetically every day - so a boost every once in a while after falling off the new page. I agree with the micro-niche discussion and would stress to anyone building free sites that the smaller niches like smoking, pregnant drunk party etc are where I would spend my time, and would very rarely do a teen, anal or shemale site these days :) Even if you have a teen model - I would look at pushing the "petite" style or her using sex toys - something that gets it into a more specific niche - I can guarantee that the returns are worth it |

Anal beads could go in toys or anal.

Fetish Philes is extremely micro-niche oriented, and most of my top 10 categories viewed are the odd ones with the exception of "anal", which is number 1 for the last week. (note, the site is still pretty new).
At the moment, since I'm trying to build up all the categories, if someone submits a free site that fits a couple different categories well I'll list it in both of them, but I don't intend to keep that up after all the categories are strong. To respond to Chris' original question, my free sites are listed just like everyone else's and the listings are weighted by surfer votes (not sure if I'll keep this up, just testing it as my script allows me multiple options on displaying listings). The next update of the script is due soon, and I'm hoping for more options on rotating listings, etc. Like just about everyone else, I don't allow submitters to submit pay sites they don't own, so currently most of the paysite listings are my sponsors but surfers can filter the listings for free, pay w/cheap trial, etc. and I see about 25% of surfers using the filter. |
