My advice would be to take the time to learn it. At least get the basics down like links and images. Otherwise you are going to be left in the dark when it comes to maintaining your sites....

Make sure the permissions on those files are set to 666, but change them back once you're done.

I'm using 2.7 for 4 new blogs I've created in the last month. No complaints so far and I like the new admin interface. Still using 2.3 on the rest of them and am happy with that for now.
