Or, we and our own particular ancestors have fought enough that it's time for some other families to step up and take on the challenge we all have risen to. Fuck, after 50+ generations of fighting the good fight (whether we really believed in it or not) we're fucking tired.

Being Scots-Irish and a descendant of the McPherson Clan (you know, the clan that brought Scotland William Wallace) my family ancestry has fought and lost life quite a bit. I don't for one look forward to the day that my nephews and nieces continue that proud tradition - hopefully I am the last in the genetic line to do so for a while.

All that being said, I am proud to be a veteran and I send my most heart felt appreciation to all veterans, regardless of nationality on this day because each of you stood up and took on the burden that so many could never imagine.
