Gee Whiz! The contest is not even 24 hours old & you want to gut it?
I'm not gonna lie - and I think everyone knows this - the sole purpose of this contest is to bring attention to the board & get the not-so-active members in here so they can look around for an hour or 2 before we pull the name. (that's not to say that the next one won't be pulled 5 minutes after the contest has started)
I'm also pleased to say that yesterday was the "best" day we've had on this board, beating out the previous one by about 30%. It was hectic - I was moving posts & editing sigs for about the 1st 45 minutes, but I expected that. All in all, I think it went rather well
I'm not a big fan of letting people know in advance that there will be rewards for post totals, as this does bring out the people that post for the sake of posting & getting their sig file seen. This is why, like when we announced the
Super Bowl Contest, we didn't let anyone know what the cutoff post total was & we didn't let people get more posts in order to get in the contest. I think everyone knows that we will do our best to take care of those that take care of us & I think that the Super Bowl Contest is a good example of how we do that
I'm not a big fan of the new newsletter contest rules, but then again, that hasn't really brought them out of the woodwork too much & I do see how the new rules are a good thing.
