I tend to prefer a more amateurish style of design, such as the example. It tells me that the submitter is at least building his/her own galleries. I'm not sure how well it would sell a big flashy mega-site, but it may be the way to promote an amateur site. Of course, you should be using pics of Cathrina in order to promote Cathrina.
The content in those galleries would probably work well at producing click-thrus to a dating site where you are attempting to convince the surfer that the model is a 'real' girl who he could meet and bang. I tend to think that less-than-pro quality pics work well for stuff like that. Anything with less than perfect lighting and a less than perfect chick who looks like she was given a couple beers by her boyfriend in order to convince her to get naked for his camera is good for promoting sites where the goal is convincing the surfer that what he sees is reality. Damn, that was a long sentence.
