I think you can change the sounds. Not sure if you can disable them. I don't use it that much so never looked into it.

No one ever messages me on ICQ so I rarely get startled by the 'Uh Oh'
. But that damn knocking noise scares the shit out of me at night. It is especially annoying in the morning when it wakes me up an hour before work or school.
I suppose I could turn my stereo off but I usually go to sleep with WinAmp playing something so its always on.
