A grimoire is simply a "witch's bible". I get the impression from non-pagans that it has been primarily connected with the black arts, but modern witchcraft simply views it as a book in which a practitioner keeps their spells (and not all spells are evil or designed to do harm, BTW), notes, rituals, private thoughts, etc.

Personally I haven't corrupted jack, but that's just me. |cool|

Incidentally, the "grande grimoire" I'm sure many have heard about is nothing more than a grimoire held by the head of a coven. In the old days, these books were guarded with one's life and well hidden to avoid discovery by those who labeled witchcraft "heresy" and would have killed to make it go away.
