Toss Norton, Virex and TechTool, your system will run better and faster. There are no viruses for Mac OS 9 so why run them? Open your extension manager and turn them off, you don't actually have to remove them. One caveat, you will not be able to recover deleted items anymore so empty the trash with care.
Boot from a DiskWarrior CD and run it on your drive if you have problems. I've seen both Norton and TechTool trash drives that DiskWarrior fixed.
