That is one of the reasons I tend to say I am "English" rather than "British". The other reason is that too many Americans have no idea what "British" means and usually ask where "Britaria" is, but are at least vaguely aware that England is on a small island of the coast of Europe (wherever Europe may be).
Oh yeah, and there is also the fact that I don't want to be associated with a race of men who wear skirts and think Mel Gibson is their national hero.
