I agree with grzepa. TGPing isn´t unproductive. You get some traffic from submitting and it is up to you dealing with that traffic. Think of filtering it.

I wouldn´t do a public tgp which is open to submitters if you aren´t experienced. But it´s a possibility to learn about traffic and advertising if you build a tgp (you don´t need a script for that) which don´t take submissions but listsyour galleries and maybe some decent fhg´s.
