Not my personal opinion (ok let me cop out here, lol) but some say when you throw money or power into the mix, the value of someone's "consent" becomes highly questionable.
Ask a republican, they probably can explain it better.
EDIT: A quick example is someone agreeing to sleep with her boss in fear that refusing will lead to losing her job.
