Fan is short for fanatic..I find it hard to be a fanatic about a ball being thrown around or hit with a stick or whatever
I'm more of an interested spectator I would say
As for "fair weather "... athletes are paid huge sums of money to perform. Bringing home the bacon for the ' fans" is or should be part of what they are getting paid for. When a team has a great season..or appears to, since maybe the teams they beat might not have been at the top of their form at that time...who knows..., and when the players are telling fans they can bring home the Super Bowl trophy , I think its fair for the fans to have high expectations they will follow through.
Philly fans will tell their teams they suck when they suck. If thats being a fair weather fan so be it LOL.
