"many of the larger link sites simply don't have the time to do so...(send out rejection emails) "
never quite sure why it takes longer to hit the "send rejection email" button, than it does to hit the "delete" button.
I don't think they sit and write the rejection mail by hand do they?
RR for example always send a rejection and the reason. Helps you for next time.
If they can do it why don't the others?

To be specific about the question asked, how long is a piece of string?
I'd submit 5 or 6 times and keep checking my stats. If they don't send any hits, or just a few gradually weed em out. But remember it can take a month to get a review at some of em, so you need to be patient.
