Another point to consider, Your header is large which pushes the content far down the page. You have the recips, the blue thumbs, text, a text box, and then the content begins. One general unspoken rule of thumb is, at least half or close to half, of your content should be visible before the fold in the page. Meaning that the reviewer or surfer does not need to scroll to see the first row or two of thumbnail images.
Some sites do not have a preference either way as long as the thumbs are of good quality and a good size. Each site is different, but it is something to consider when creating layouts.
