Go with diesel...no emissions tests, no special additives, that is until winter hits. Then they add something to thin it a bit. Except for a few years ago, diesel prices have not gone up over $1.70/gallon. And, you get better millage. I get about 14 miles to a gallon with a truck that weighs over 12,000 pounds, empty.
The best thing about it is in the winter though...
I have a plug when plugged in, I start my truck and have instant heat. I could turn on the heat and blower without the motor running and I have heat. And the pulling power is incredible. I could pull my house off the foundation if I felt the need. Needless to say, I will never have another vehicle without a diesel engine.
