Omigod, Sun, this happened to me a couple of months ago! I was playing the Sims (shh!) and then BANG - I swear it sounded like a gun shot. I had no clue what had caused the sound. Then I got a game error...and the realization dawned...
Couldn't open the drive. Removed it and little bits of Sim scattered everywhere. Finally managed to get the door open...thousands upon thousands of bits. I haven't opened up the drive itself, but if I shake it, it sounds like a maraca, and more bits fall out every time...
After reading through the links, I guess we should be happy neither of us lost an eye!
