It's kind of a fine line balancing act.
Of course you want the surfer to hit the sponsor. But at the same time, you have to get listed for that to happen. I think a safe rule of thumb to follow is that your gallery links should at least be on the same font size as your smallest sponsor link. If you make them too difficult to find, some reviewer isn't going to like it.
So to me, it isn't the location of the gallery links, it's the size of the font. If you run into acceptance problems, try upping the font size a bit. See how that works. Overall, it looks very nice.
