In my case the email wasn't actually spam because I signed up to a board they run a few years ago and gave them an email address.

The reason I thought it was spam was I get the same opening line 20 or 30 times a day and this was the first time I've ever seen a business email used that approach and it also came to an email address that I don't give to sposnors so I knew I never signed up to one of their programs.

Had they identified themselves as owners of Porn City or used a more common appraoch in announcements I never would have thought it was spam. On the other hand maybe I should know them.

I like getting announcements and communications from business partners. Just don't use the same lines as spammers and you should be OK.
