Well, for my 2cents,
It couldn't hurt to put them in, if a SE doesn't need them they will ignore them. If they do need them then they are available. As a great man once said and I quote, "Couldn't hurt". But I do believe that well built pages with the tags, proper html, good content, links (in and out), will do very well over pages that don't, always has and always will be consistant in traffic and listings. The SE game starts when you think of what domain name to buy and then gets more complex after that.
In short put the tags in, if they need to be used they will, if not then they will be ignored.
Again that is my 2cents but for a quarter........
