Cleo, the worst part is that that amount of snow isn't a record or anything... close to it, but not a real blowout... lucky for us there wasn't any other snow already on the ground or it would have looked much worse.
My favorite ski spot in vermont (Jay Peak) typically sees 300-500 inches a season. Now that's snow!
