Ya know, I was thinking, and that's not something I spend a lot of time doing these days - anyway... I was thinking about the hub-bub surrounding the call for political correctness during the holidays and the resulting outrage. I have come to this conclusion on both counts: I don't give a fuck.
I'm an aethiest who celebrates christmas because I like giving my kids junk that the dogs will inevitably destroy and I like other people giving me shit. You won't here a complaint from me about the commercialization of christmas. (That's all it has ever been to me anyway.) So, I don't care if a Christian says "Merry Christmas" or if a Jew says "Happy Hannakuh" or if an African says "Happy Kwanza" or if a Muslum says "Go fuck yourself, you American Pig". It's all the same to me. I appreciate the fact that they wish me well, especially if they don't believe the way I do. And because of that, I don't care that people are upset about everyone saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" or whatever. Personally, I think everyone should be allowed to make the Happy Joy-Joy statement that goes with their belief system and not have to tailor it to the recipient's beliefs, but who the fuck am I?
