That is the same model I have at the house. I didn't really think I would see that much difference between the 11mb and the 54mb, but, it does work quite well and is a pretty well featured router. If you move files from one machine to another in your house, make sure you have 802.11G cards that are capable of the 54mb/sec -- and possibly the SuperG cards that bond two channels to get 108mb/sec.

You can turn on encryption, turn off the SSID broadcast, and generally make it difficult for the neighbors to get in. You can limit what MAC addresses can connect to your network as well. Not that the encryption is bulletproof, but, it'll keep the casual person out.

You probably won't need to change channels on it as you're probably not close enough for collisions with a neighbor. If you have any 2.4ghz cordless phones, you might need to change the channel on the linksys, although, I think the out of the box config should work fine.
