I've owned 3 MPs players now. The first two sucked green donkey dicks, but I bought them because they were cheaper then the iPod.
First one was one with a memory chip in it, can't remember the brand. It had 256k of memory which was never enough and I always ended up not have the music with me that I wanted plus it was a pain to use.
Then I had the 5 gig Nomad one. It crashed a lot, ate batteries like nothing that I have ever seen and was slow as hell when using its menus, but what really made me change is it didn't play the ACC format files that are sold at the iTunes store.
I have the top of the line iPod now and absolutely love it. Battery lasts all day and charges in one hour, has super fast and easy to use menus, but most of all plays the ACC format music that is sold at the iTunes store.
You can find the 10 gig models for under $200 if you shop around.
