I guess I will chime in...
I have run affiliate programs from 1996-3 years ago the 1st of this month. And yes, I have used icq to both offer new sites and programs to existing affiliates and to entice new affiliates. But never, have I been rude to anyone that said no to me. Even if they were rude to me, I apologized for bothering them and moved on. Never, would I ever consider calling an existing affiliate an asshole. That is just bad for business. And, I would have never considered contacting the existing affiliate without knowing everything I could about not only their traffic but also them, personally. Nothing works quite as well as asking about the family. Knowing Greenie the way I do, if your sites worked well for him, he would have jumped all over them and promoted them to death.
The other thing I would have done as the owner of that program would have to come here and to apologize for their employee, not stick up for them.
The problem with Marketing people that don't know how to market is the attitude mentioned earlier. The affiliate is not our customer. While technically that is true, they should still be treated that way. Affiliates are your bread and butter.
And if some of the linklist owners here (and there are a lot), decided to make it a rule, "If you promote MetalCash, you will not be listed", how much do you think that would hurt?
This entire problem started with someone trying to market that really has no idea what they are doing.
