I have not submitted thousands of sites but when I do find the time to build and submit I only do so to about 15 to 20 LL. I agree that some of the rules you are going to read are a little crazy but when I saw them I just passed them by and here is my reason. The cats I was submitting to were very narrow, and I got listed with some of the big boys. At first I was expecting massive traffic boosts but that's not what happend. I was getting an average of 15 visits on the first day and then it would drop off. But I will say the traffic was of a much higher quality then I got from the smaller LL. Most of my sign ups came from the big boys. So in the end I just said it was not worth the time to try and please 1 LL that has some crazy rule who in the end is prob going to send me 2 or 3 visits with crap traffic. In the end sticking with the ones who knew how to really target their surfers was best for me. I also found that using FS was better, I tried a teen gallery an submitted it to alot of places and got listed at almost all of them. Once again I was figuring a massive boost in traffic and even tho I did see more visits from the gallery and the over populated cat I saw almost 0 sign ups. But with everyone of them, I followed the rules to the letter and if I had a question I contacted the site. If the site did not respond with in 5 days I took them off my list.
Also if you build clean nice sites I know there are plenty of Big Boys here who will list you and once you have their recips on your page you can then sub to the smaller LL with the peaceful feeling you not only met their requirement of getting listed on other sites, but you got listed on well know sites. Not many LL owners will deny a site after seeing a GG or Tommy recip on a page and knowing you really are listed there. They know it's not easy getting on their lists as they scrub very well and if you are on their list then you did 99% of everything correct.
