I can tell you the way T-mobile works since I have it.

Standard WiFi configure using DHCP. If you are not already a customer it will ask you your billing info when you try to access it and at that time you can join so instant access once you have given them a way to bill you. Since I'm a T-Mobile customer for my cell phone I get unlimited access for $20 a month. It is T1 speeds both download and upload. They don't really like to tell you this but they do have a SMTP server that you can use. It is Myemail.t-mobile.com.

Also some laptops seem to need their proxy setup. My Powerbook doesn't seem to care if I put in proxy settings or not, works both ways. The proxy settings in case you need them are getmorespeed.voicestream.net port 8080

Here are all their plans

Here in For Lauderdale you can find free open WiFi access points all over the city. I'm not sure if many of them mean to be open to everyone, but they are. LOL Seems a lot of places set up WiFi for their use, but never secure their network.

I also have GPRS internet using my Bluetooth phone which gives me about 128K with a good cell signal.

I'm a connected lady.
