On a text tgp you should definately rotate galleries every day to give your surfers something new to look at.
On a thumb tgp you need to be a bit more sophisticated. You gotta put the best thumbs in the top spots, rotate new thumbs into the list and shuffle the thumbs every now and then to give your site a new look. A script like
Thumb Manager will do the trick.
