I never bothered talking money the 1st two conversations with them. Bad part about this is you are going to deal with flakes. Models are always waky. What I used to do was request a phone conversation, it's easier to tell if the model is really serious by the tone of their voice. Keep the conversation short and professional, set a date to meet to go over what you full want in the shoot and the $$ you are paying for it. I always tried to talk money face to face, just worked better for me. But also keep in mind, in the past when I did this, 1st I would get a ton of responses and only 1 model was worth working with. So the one reply shows you she/he is professional enough to contact you back. The others may not even be modeling anymore. Some sites allow you to see when their profiles where last updated. Any model who did not update with in 1 month I never bothered contacting.
