Thanks for the opinions all, I don't currently use exit links at all, for the reasons mentioned - only people who click on them are nosy surfers rather than anyone who is actually going to buy anything. I used to use an MP3 sponsor, and after something like 15k uniques with no sales decided to pull the exit and use the link as an extra one to the freesites primary sponsor.
Was more of a case of getting some linkbacks up and running than thinking I'd actually make sales directly from the exit link, but so far looks like it's considered adult in nature so that's gonna have to be done from other sources. Thanks again to everyone for their input
