I "get" pretty much every niche (though I'm disgusted by some, like gaping assholes and cervix-fucking). I don't think anybody could "make up" a fetish and successfully market it if the fetish didn't exist already in one form or another.
I think it's a lot easier for people to understand other people's fetishes when they actually talk to customers and have some experience providing live "service" (phone sex, escorting, camming, etc.). People who get into this industry and expect everyone to be just like them are really . . . limited in imagination and out of touch with reality. Yes, I think people whose minds are boggled by the concept of ***OTHER PEOPLE*** getting off on balloons (or feet or ATM or whatever) are really unimaginative. But hey -- let's pretend people DIDN'T get off on those things -- more power to any woman who could seduce an audience into developing a fetish that never existed.
The stuff that's made up is the reality stuff where it's more a situation of someone pursuing a concept that's totally ludicrous (that pizza glory hole site comes to mind). I also think webmasters overestimate how much interest there is in certain kinds of content and wind up creating a bigger market for it than there is by making it practically impossible to find anything better. A lot of consumers wind up tolerating and buying content that they don't really like just because they want porn so badly that they take whatever is overexposed and easy to find in the heat of the moment (unless of course they have a true paraphilia and will search high and low for their fetish and nothing else will do).
