48 LL's doesn't sound like a lot. I make about 4 sites a week and I sub to about 100 LL's
Iwould say that Free Sites alone makes it difficult to make a living. Its a good basic traffic source though and you can use the traffic to feed the rest of your empire - hubs, Fake TGP's and whatever else takes your fancy.
