I too, don't know the direct answer to your question but have you looked into
WordpressMU. It's the multi-user version which would let you setup hosted blogs. In my demented way of thinking you could setup a blog on the main page with feeds and then each camstar could have a hosted blog on a sub. Feed the main blog with the camstar blogs and I think you may have created something close to what your looking for.
