When it snows while the leaves are still on trees, there are some big problems. And Buffalo doesn't get nearly as much snow as you think. It's just when it does snow, it kind of goes sideways. The place that gets the most snow in the lower 48 is called Tugg Hill NY. It's about 90 mins from me and about 2 and a half hours from Greenie. On average, it gets about 130 inches/year.
You need a lot of snow at one time to close an airport. I have flown into Syracuse after a big snowstorm and we went down the runway kind of sideways
We had one Christmas Eve a few years ago when we got almost 4 feet. Even my 4x4 F350 had a really hard time plowing that crap. The local police department forced me to start plowing the village streets..I have to admit, that was a little cool
It also took me an hour to go 2 miles into the next town without plowing. But, plowing that night and day or not, I got stuck several times and I never get stuck. I'm the guy my friends and Children call when they are stuck.
