Palm Beach County has the longest straight flat-water stretches in the state (and a world-class waterski park).
The flat-water stretches are irrigation canals that go in all different directions, so, if the wind is blowing from the East, you go to a north-south canal.
Tara Hamilton is from Lantana which is just south of here and got into wakeboarding because another wakeboarding superstar (who's name I cannot remember) dared her. Now she and her sister are top ranked.
Toyota ended up sponsoring the guy and he had a free boat, a free truck to pull it, and quite an endorsement racket. Getting paid to wakeboard.....
So, we get to see our fair share of people training. Andy Mapple should be coming down soon who used to be the in the top 5 ranked slalom skier for almost 20 years -- and trains a few miles from my house.
So, yes, irrigation ditches are popular.
