Because sand retains heat very poorly. And you thought those adobe huts were made out of mud because it was available. The side benefit is, they provide shade during the day, and collect heat. At night, when the temperature drops, the walls radiate heat, keeping the hut warmer than the outside -- saving the solar energy during the day, releasing it at night.
I think I have a new best friend at the FBI, he calls me all the time, wants to set up a lunch early next week. He did seem surprised that I knew he was from Cleveland until I mentioned to him that his vcard in his signature said Cleveland.

He only moved to Miami in August.
Other than that, a fun filled day with getting caught up on a ton of stuff. The last three weeks have been a whirlwind.
Offer letter fedexed to the new prospective hire and I should get a positive response on that today which will hopefully free up part of my schedule to catch up on some other things.
