That's something I read somewhere and I want to be safe. I prefere to learn from other peoples mistakes, not my own.

Some sources state that more than half pings from all blogs are so called "spings" or "spam pings". Since it is becoming a big problem I try to stay away from being interpreted as a "spinger".
The services that take pings are automated software, how can they check content? Even SE bots, can not really say what is spammy content. Not to mention, resouces being used or abused by over pinging.

Good content takes time to create. In my mind some one creating tons of content each day, (ping per post) is likely a spammer. Not perfect, but what else is there to go by?
