Speaking of Aggregator's I've had a mainstream one up for half a year or so that I'm closing down (I never fail to lose money in mainstream).
FYI the three categories that got the vast majority of traffic were Political Blogs, Gadgets and Celebrity Blogs in that order.

I agree with you T pat. I have a site with 5 separate blogs on it, plus about 10 more on different domains. I could not keep up with the demand to update them all the time and write my own content. I've started using zipped blogs for each niche now because the site is several years old and would be a shame to just scrap the site now.
I actually even changed a burdensome TGP into a blog where I use splog galleries just like it was a TGP updating everyday and it's working out MUCH better than it was when the site was a TGP. Definitely something to say for splogs.
Mainstream the only success I have had is with my high end fashion and niche specific fashion splogs.
