I got intrigued by my random stats in kit's train wreck thread. I just had to pull up the stats for 2005 too, just to see if there really was a trend....
Average CTR for 2008:
index: 1.8%
main: 7.6%
gallery 1: 7.9%
gallery 2: 8.8%
Average CTR for 2006:
index: 4.6%
main: 1.9%
gallery 1: 5.2%
gallery 2: 3.0%
Average CTR for 2005:
index: 6.7%
main: 2.4%
gallery 1: 4.0%
gallery 2: 3.3%
Of course the index page is still the most important page, since loads of people drop off from the index page to the main page.
The "drop off" difference between index and main, 2006 - 2008 is huge. I mean HUGE.
